Outlook IMAP complete mail download
This tip forces Outlook to download all IMAP headers, mail, and attachments so Road Warriors can work offline.
For Outlook 2007 do the following:
- On the Tools menu, point to Send/Receive Groups, point to Send/Receive Settings, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
- Click a group that contains your IMAP account, and then click Edit.
- Under Accounts, click your IMAP account.
- In the list, select the check box for each folder you want to include when checking e-mail, and then select Download complete item including attachments.
- Click OK to save changes.
For Outlook 2010 do the following:
- On the Send/Receive Tab, point to Send/Receive Groups, and then click Define Send/Receive Groups.
- Click a group that contains your IMAP account, and then click Edit.
- Under All Accounts, click your IMAP account.
- Select Download complete items including attachments for subscribed folders.
- Click OK to save changes.
After implementing this all new IMAP mail will be downloading in it's entirety, older mail may need to be marked for download manually. This can be done by selecting all mail, right clicking on one of the selected mails and selecting Mark for download. Mail downloading/Syncing could take a while depending on the speed of the Internet connection being used and the size of the existing mailbox.
